Vermont mens Basketball 2 game winning streak ended last night when Robby Pride of Dartmouth hit a layup with 7 seconds to play, allowing Dartmouth to escape with a 76-75 come from behind victory Tuesday night at Leede Arena.
Marqus Blakely led four cats in double figures with 23 points and 10 rebounds in the loss. However Marqus was called for an offensive foul with 15 seconds left and UVM clinging to a 1 point lead, giving the ball back to Dartmouth. The loss drops the Cats to 2-4 on the year. Prior to the loss last night UVM had won 8 straight against Dartmouth.
Coach Mike Lonergan was disappointed with the teams lapses on the defensive end of the court but felt the team deserved to win. The problem was the Cats let Dartmouth stay in the game and at the end it cost them.
The Cats now travel south to face the two-time NCAA defending champion Florida Gators on Friday (7:30). The game will be televised by Fox Sports Florida.
